Date of Images:
11/7/2020, 11/18/2020, 11/19/2020
Summary:
The National Central University (NCU) of Taiwan, in collaboration with the Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and California Institute of Technology in California, created this preliminary map showing areas of Izabal region, Guatemala that are likely flooded as a result of Hurricanes Eta and Iota, shown by blue pixels. This map should be used as a guidance to identify areas that are likely flooded, and maybe less reliable over urban and vegetated areas.
11/7 Image: The map was derived from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquired on October 26 and November 7, 2020 by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites (Relative orbit 63) operated by the European Space Agency (ESA).

11/18 Image: The map was derived from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquired on October 25 and November 18, 2020 by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites (Relative orbit 55) operated by the European Space Agency (ESA).

11/19 Image: The map map was derived from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquired on November 19, 2020 by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites operated by the European Space Agency (ESA).

Suggested Use:
Likely flooded areas are shown as blue. This FPM should be used as guidance to identify flooded areas, and may be less reliable over urban and vegetated areas.
Satellite/Sensor:
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) from Copernicus Sentinel-1 operated by the European Space Agency (ESA)
Resolution:
30 meters
Credits:
Analyzed by the National Central University and NASA-JPL/Caltech ARIA team.
