Service Description: Dates of Images:May 1, 2019 - July 18, 2019Summary; The Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) distributes Near Real-Time (NRT) active fire data within 3 hours of satellite overpass from both the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). These images can provide information about where new fires may have formed and how they evolve during their life cycle. This data set includes data from May 1, 2019 through July 18, 2019 to monitor the evolution of wildfires across the state of AlaskaSuggested Use:FIRMS Active Fire Points can be used to detect new hot spots and fires, and to monitor the progression of fires throughout their life cycleSatellite/Sensor:Suomi-NPP Visibile Infrared Imaging Radiometer Sensor (VIIRS); 375 meter resolutionCredits: If you provide the LANCE / FIRMS data to a third party, we request you follow theguidelines in the citation and replicate or provide a link to the disclaimer.CITATIONSee: https://earthdata.nasa.gov/earth-observation-data/near-real-time/citation#ed-firms- citation DISCLAIMERThe LANCE system is operated by the NASA/GSFC Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS).
