Summary:

The Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) distributes Near Real-Time (NRT) active fire data within 3 hours of satellite overpass from both the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). These images can provide information showing how the Shovel Creek Fire near Fairbanks, AK evolved throughout its life cycle.

Fire Extents from the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center are provided to compare to the satellite based FIRMS Fire Points.

Monitor the evolution of the Shovel Creek Fire and compare the satellite based fire detection points against official fire extents from the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center
