In particular, the maps were derived using the VEG-DIST-STATUS, VEG-ANOM-MAX, and VEG-DIST-DATE layers from the DIST-ALERT products that are generated based on the August 13, 2023 Sentinel-2 acquisition.

The OPERA DIST product maps pixel-wise vegetation disturbance (specifically, vegetation cover loss) from the Harmonized Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 A/B (HLS) scenes. Vegetation disturbance is flagged when there is an indicated decrease in vegetation cover within the 30 m x 30 m HLS pixel. The products are distributed as GeoTIFFs in Military Grid Reference System. Each tile has a ground footprint of 109.8 km x 109.8 km. The DIST-ALERT products are released at the cadence of HLS imagery. For more information about the product, please refer to the DIST Product page https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/go/opera/products/dist-product-suite.

Suggested Use:

Maximum Vegetation Anomaly - Difference between historical and current year observed vegetation cover at the date of maximum decrease, measured from 0-100% (yellow - black).
