Service Description: Date of Image:
August 13, 2024, August 15, 2024, August 16, 2024
Summary:
The images show Ernesto in the Atlantic Ocean using TROPICS06 Brightness Temperature v1.0 (in degrees K) at the G-Band (204.8 GHz, Channel 12/Band 5). Values observed at this particular frequency are sensitive to atmospheric moisture which aids in identifying precipitation structure.
August 13, 2024 shows Tropical Storm Ernesto in the Atlantic Ocean.
August 15, 2024 shows Ernesto as a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean.
August 16, 2024 shows Ernesto as a Category 2 hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean.
Suggested Use:
Brighter colors signify the presence of moisture (cooler temperatures are triggered by small precipitation ice particles) while darker blues/purples are associated with a relatively drier atmosphere (warmer temperatures initiated by little to no cloud ice).
Satellite/Sensor:
TROPICS06, TROPICS03
Resolution:
25km
