Service Description: Date of Images:
6/17/2023, 7/11/2023
Date of Next Image:
None expected
Summary:
The Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and California Institute of Technology created the Flood Proxy Map (FPM) for northern Vermont, USA from Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite, operated by the European Space Agency, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. This map used images acquired by Sentinel-1 on 17 June and 11 July 2023. The data was not acquired further south so the map covers only the northern part of the state.
Suggested Use:
Blue pixels indicate areas that are likely flooded.
This flood proxy map should be used as a guide to identify areas that are likely flooded, and is less reliable over urban and vegetated areas.
Satellite/Sensor:
Copernicus Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)
Resolution:
Copernicus Sentinel-1: 30 meters
Credits:
Sentinel-1 data were accessed through the Copernicus Open Hub and the Alaska Satellite Facility server. The product contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2023), processed by the European Space Agency and analyzed by the NASA-JPL/Caltech ARIA team. Part of the funding was provided by NASA's Earth Applied Sciences Disasters Program.
