Service Description: Purpose/Summary: Inundation Estimate from Global Flood Monitoring System (GFMS) based on surface and river routing models using NASA Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Integrated Multi-Satellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) precipitation information. GFMS covers the globe from 50N-50S. This product shows the maximum depth and extent of the flooding between 2am and 11pm EDT (8 iterations of this product occur during that time interval). This product shows the maximum inundation estimate that occured between 10/23/2018 at 12Z and 10/25/2018 at 03Z as a result of Hurricane Willa. Suggested Usage: This product can be used to estimate flood extent (and depth) and for comparison with other estimates from satellite and ground observations. Satellite/Sensor: Model calculations are at 1km resolution and 3-hours; satellite precipitation (GPM IMERG) is input to models at ~12 km and 3-hrs. Credits/Acknowledgements: Global Flood Monitoring System (GFMS), University of Maryland
