Summary:
The Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, in collaboration with the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS), created this Flood Proxy Map (FPM). Derived from synthetic aperture radar data acquired by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites operated by the European Space Agency (ESA) from October 3rd, 2018 up through April 9th, 2020, after the event. This map should be used as a guidance to identify areas that are likely flooded, and may be less reliable over urban and vegetated areas. Analysed by the ARIA-SG team at the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) in collaboration with NASA-JPL and Caltech. Data processing used an AWS Open Dataset of Copernicus Sentinel-1 data for the Asia region (https://registry.opendata.aws/sentinel1-slc-seasia-pds). Suggested Use:
Likely flooded areas are shown as blue. This FPM should be used as guidance to identify flooded areas, and may be less reliable over vegetated areas and flooded areas.
Satellite/Sensor:
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) from Copernicus Sentinel-1 operated by the European Space Agency (ESA);
